Would You Rather: Organize Your Photos or Your Scrapbook Supplies?

If you're a scrapbooker, you've probably asked yourself this question at least once: Would you rather have every photo perfectly organized or every scrapbook supply perfectly organized?

Both options sound amazing! Having your photos neatly sorted makes it easier to find treasured memories and create meaningful scrapbook layouts. On the other hand, having all your scrapbook supplies organized means less time searching for tools, paper, embellishments, and adhesives, and more time crafting.

Pedal, Play, Repeat! A Fun Double-Page Scrapbook Sketch for Bike Ride Memories

There’s something special about watching our children gain confidence and independence on two wheels. From wobbly first rides to neighborhood adventures, bike riding creates so many memories worth preserving. That's why I designed this simple double-page 12" x 12" scrapbook sketch to help you showcase those treasured biking moments.

This sketch features a clean and easy-to-follow layout with plenty of space for multiple photos, making it perfect for documenting a day at the park, family bike rides, learning to ride without training wheels, or simply enjoying the outdoors. The bicycle embellishment serves as the focal point while layered paper shapes add interest without overwhelming your photos.

One of my favorite things about this sketch is its versatility. You can use bright primary colors for a playful children's layout, sporty patterns for older kids, or even seasonal papers to match the time of year the photos were taken. Add a few enamel dots, stickers, or journaling strips to personalize the page and tell the story behind the adventure.

The featured title, "Ridin' Into Adventure!", captures the excitement of childhood bike rides, but I’ve also included several alternate title ideas on the sketch if you'd like to customize your layout:

- Pedal. Play. Repeat.
- Two Wheels, Endless Fun
- Born to Ride
- Biking Buddies
- Little Riders, Big Adventures
- On the Go!
- Rolling Into Memories
- Just Keep Pedaling
- Adventure on Two Wheels

I hope this sketch inspires you to pull out those biking photos and create a layout that celebrates these everyday moments that quickly become cherished memories.

Happy stamping and happy scrapping!

Don't Let Summer Memories Slip Away: Tips for Capturing Vacation Stories for Your Scrapbooks

Summer vacation season is here! Whether you're heading across the country, exploring a new city, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a family staycation, now is the perfect time to start thinking like a scrapbooker before your trip even begins.

One of the biggest challenges scrapbookers face is returning home with hundreds of photos but very few details about the memories behind them. A little planning can make creating those vacation layouts so much easier and much more meaningful!

Take Photos That Tell the Whole Story

Of course, we all love those smiling family photos in front of famous landmarks, but don't stop there. Try capturing:

  • Transportation (airplanes, trains, rental cars, ferries)
  • Hotel rooms or vacation rentals
  • Menus from favorite restaurants
  • Street signs and destination markers
  • Local foods and treats
  • Souvenirs and tickets
  • Scenic views
  • Candid moments of family members enjoying the experience

These "everyday" photos often become some of the most treasured parts of a scrapbook because they help tell the complete story of the trip.

Don't Forget the Details

A month after vacation, it can be surprisingly difficult to remember where you ate lunch on Tuesday or why everyone was laughing during a particular photo.

Consider keeping a simple vacation journal. It doesn't need to be fancy! You can:

  • Use the Notes app on your phone (my personal favorite 😍)
  • Create a private social media album with captions
  • Keep a small notebook in your bag
  • Send yourself daily voice memos

At the end of each day, jot down:

  • Where you went
  • What you did
  • Funny things family members said
  • Favorite foods
  • Unexpected adventures
  • Weather conditions
  • Special moments you don't want to forget

Even a few bullet points each day will be incredibly helpful when it's time to write your scrapbook journaling.

Collect Memory-Keeping Treasures

Save small items that can be incorporated into your layouts later:

  • Maps
  • Brochures
  • Postcards
  • Receipts from special meals
  • Attraction tickets
  • Wristbands
  • Business cards
  • Hotel key cards

These pieces add authenticity and help preserve the full vacation experience.

Create a Photo Organization System

Before your trip begins, create a vacation album on your phone. At the end of each day, favorite your best photos or sort them into folders by location or activity.

Future-you will be thankful when you're searching through thousands of pictures trying to remember which beach day happened first!

Remember the Feelings

Some of the best scrapbook journaling isn't about where you went—it's about how you felt.

Ask yourself:

  • What surprised you?
  • What made you laugh?
  • What was your favorite moment?
  • What will your family still be talking about years from now?

Those emotional details are what transform photos into stories.

Fun Generic Vacation Layout Titles

Need a title for your next vacation page? Try one of these:

  • Adventure Awaits
  • Wander More
  • Vacation Mode
  • Making Memories
  • Road to Fun
  • Summer Escapes
  • Explore & Discover
  • Family Adventure
  • Sunshine Days
  • Journey Together
  • Off We Go
  • Happy Travels

No matter where your summer adventures take you, remember that the best scrapbooks capture more than photos, they preserve the stories, laughter, and little moments that make each trip unforgettable.

Happy travels and happy scrapbooking!

You Make Me Smile – A Soft & Sweet Card Featuring Crisp Cantaloupe

There’s something so refreshing about creating with soft, cheerful colors, and this card was the perfect opportunity to showcase one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! In Colors, Crisp Cantaloupe!

For this design, I layered patterned papers in coordinating shades of Crisp Cantaloupe to create a warm and inviting background. The subtle polka dots, soft stripes, and layered banners add interest without overwhelming the focal point. I paired the color with delicate floral images, leafy accents, and a clean circular sentiment panel featuring the uplifting greeting, “You Make Me Smile.”

I love how the soft peachy tones create a light and elegant feel while still being versatile enough for birthdays, thank-you cards, encouragement cards, or simply letting someone know you’re thinking of them. The added embellishments provide just the right amount of sparkle and dimension.

Cardmaking Tip: When working with monochromatic color schemes, mix patterns, textures, and layers to add depth while keeping the overall design cohesive.

Have you tried creating with Crisp Cantaloupe yet? I'd love to hear how you're using this beautiful In Color in your own projects!

For today's Card, I used this Sketch I created. It is definitely one of my go to designs. Please feel free to use it as inspiration for your own card.

A Day to Remember: Documenting a Soroban Adventure

One of my favorite things about scrapbooking is finding creative ways to tell the stories behind everyday experiences. Recently, I created this cute double-page 12" x 12" layout that will be perfect for showcasing photos from my son's Okinawa soroban workshop.

I was immediately drawn to the clean design and the fun gear embellishments. The gears remind me of all the thinking, learning, and problem-solving that take place when children are developing new skills. Since soroban is all about mental math, concentration, and strategy, these elements fit the theme perfectly!

The layout features multiple photo mats, giving me plenty of room to include photos of my son participating in the workshop, practicing on the soroban, and interacting with other students. I also love the science-inspired patterned paper and the banner element that stretches across both pages, helping tie the entire design together.

The title, "A Day to Remember," couldn't be more fitting. Living in Okinawa provides so many unique opportunities for our children to experience Japanese culture, and this workshop was one of those special moments worth preserving. Scrapbooking allows me to capture not only the photos but also the story behind the experience and the memories we made along the way.

Sometimes the best layouts are the ones that let the photos and the story take center stage. This simple yet engaging design does exactly that, creating the perfect backdrop for documenting an educational adventure that my son will hopefully remember for years to come.
